ALS written from the Jim Crow Diggings, Victoria, and addressed to the writer's uncle, Mr. George Grant, in Montreal, Canada. The first two pages are written t o his uncle and he gives an account of his lack of success on the goldfields, and discusses turning to Canada. Another page is written to Anne, to whom he hopes he will return, or who will join him.
